Name: Raoul
Age: 34
Race: Archenlander (he's their king, if that is cool)
Weapons: a broadsword for battle and, a small dagger he keeps hidden in his bedchamers (hey gotta protect the family, right?)
♥ Now we're back to the Beginning ♥[/color]
History: Nobody thought Raoul was going to be a king. As a child, he was that little boy that every father dreads- yeah you know what I'm talking about, that kid that screams if his knees get scraped and trembles at the thought or sight of any sport. So, in other words, Raoul was a mama's boy. Big time. From the minute he learned to walk, Raoul clung to his mothers leg like velcro. He disliked things such as wrestling and swordfighting and instead prefered to spend time reading, studying, and riding horses. Rumor even has it that he was caught playing dolls with his sisters a few times.
Raoul had a brother, Marcellus, born two years after him. With his beautiful blue eyes and golden hair it seemed Marcellus was the son Raoul's father had wanted so much. Not only was he beautiful, but also strong, arrogant, ruthless- everything a crown prince should be, right? And so it was that Marcellus was made the crown prince and Raoul was sent to train as a knight.
Raoul started his training at about 16-17 years old. By this time he had changed. Years of his father neglecting him had built up an anger in him that caused him to be rude, rash and violent, no longer the gentle soul that he'd been as a child. However, his instructors taught him how to vent his anger out on battling and training.
When Raoul went to the training camp, he was 5'5 and weighed little more than 110 pounds. When he left 5 years later, he was 6'1 and weighted 154 pounds. Not only had he matured physically but also mentally. He understood of his future and felt he would be quite happy to just be a knight all of his life. Sadly, life doesn't work that way.
Five or six years later, Raoul's father passed away and Marcellus was named the king to some peoples delight and others sadness. You see, despite his perfections Marcellus wasn't right in the head. He was violent, ruthless, a sociopath.
Come two years later. Raoul's thirtieth birthday is approaching. He's just been appointed a captains position in the Archenland Knights and is looking to settle down with his fiancee Rosaline. But things are not all well in Archenland. People are hungry and yet King Marcellus is ignoring them, instead looking to make some plans to gain territory. Raoul knows its not right, but his only interests, as they have always been, are to take care of his family.
But, things get worse. More people are hungry and they are beginning to get angry. And then one night Raoul gets that dreaded approach from his mother. He knows what he has to do, though he doesn't want to. And so they hatch a plan. If they can prove Marcellus is mentally incapable of ruling, he will be dethroned and Raoul will become the king. But how?
But before they can hatch a plan, something changes. The stress of ruling becomes too much for Marcellus and he suffers from a nervous breakdown, thus making him unfit to rule. He is sent to a vacation home to recover and Raoul is made the King. The plans for his marriage are put in place. Then the morning of the wedding, Raoul finds a note on his nightstand.
Raoul,
Forgive me, but a peasant cannot accustom to royalty,
Rosaline.
Some people wondered how their king had not broken down like his brother had. One thing was for sure- his views on women were very different from that time on. Maids and other servants now had to knock on his door to make sure they didn't walk in on him shagging someone.
Nobody ever thought Raoul would marry after Rosaline. He didn't seem to notice Malina too much when she first came to the castle to work as a laundry maid. Raised by an older aunt after her parents had died from respiratory infections, Malina had learned to be independent from an early age. Wtih no place to go after her aunts passing, she heard the castle was looking to hire laundry staff. And with her pretty face, Malina was hired quickly. She wasn't stupid- Malina knew that was the whole reason she was hired. After all, the king was known to love his maids. But she was not there to entrance the king- she was there to work and that was what she'd do.
It was only a matter of time before the King noticed the girl. She'd been putting linens away in his chambers and he attempted to advance on her. When she harshly turned him down, Raoul was shocked and even a little hurt, but yet fascinated at the same time. Unlike most girls Malina had not been afraid to be rude to him. But what fascinated him the most was that she'd treated him like a normal person.
By chance they met again- this time in the hallway. Malina had attempted to hide her face in the linens, but it seemed she could not escape the king. But Malina was surprised when Raoul attempted to converse with her instead of hitting on her. They ended up having a small conversation about the nearby painting on the wall, and once again parted ways.
Raoul tried to keep it hidden from the countries that he was now married. Despite her common background, Malina was a kind, gentle, understanding person and thus the people of archenland adored her. This helped Raoul a lot,as he was not much of a people person and thus he gave those duties to his queen while he handled more the buisness and state duties.
Four months ago, Malina gave birth to the couples first child, a boy named Runne.

Sample RP: Murder? Nah. Kidnapping? Ok, maybe. Then they could go in the woods, where no one would bother them. He could get a job, and they'd have oh, maybe six or seven kids. Five at the minimum. Whatever the case, they'd be together and that was all that mattered. Together, and away from those damned royals. Royalty. A word that had once been a component of his life now left a bitter blood-like taste in his mouth.
The truth was, Raoul had no desire to return to Archenland. Come to think of it were not for the situation with Natalie, he would have been back with his family in Calormen. They were kind, compassionate, and best of all- treated him like a normal person. Maybe when he collected her, he could take Natalie to visit them. Someday, eventually. That was the problem: he hadn't actually gotten or found the girl yet. And had no idea if she'd agree to his plans. Eh, no matter. He was gonna take her anyway. As long as Raoul breathed, there was no way she'd marry a Narnian king. Why he'd rather see her marry a minotaur than either of those boys.
They'd get married someday hopefully. But for now all Raoul wanted was to see her, to touch her, to ravish her as he pleased. The man would not deny his sexual desires towards her. Towards any woman for that. But Natalie was not just any woman. She was not some harlot he could pay. She was not a servant he could woo. Raoul would never see her as a plaything or a flirt tool- Natalie was much too special for that.
The horse he possessed seemed to stand out among the other ones of this country. Ir was petite, sleek, built for speed rather than working. In Calormen horse racing was extremely popular; one would find it rare to see a horse pulling a cart, especially with so donkeys and dromedaries around. Needless to say a horse was much more pleasant to ride than a camel or a donkey. Raoul was much too large to be comfortable on a donkey. Fun fact: most people in Calormen stood under five foot eight. Was that why he'd received all the stares?
He hissed in pain as the embers from the fire he'd just ignited burned his hands. But at least he'd be warm now. While it was spring in narnia, the sun was going down and within two hours it would be cold. Better to star the fire when it was warm than when he was too cold to even move. Another Calormen fun fact: it was hot in the day, but at night the temperature dropped nearly twenty degrees.

Custom Title: King of Archenland
Anything you want to say: I've played Raoul for a long time on narnia sites. He's sort of my "narnia original character" and I've developed him for years, improving him more and more.
