If there was one thing King Caspian X's castle was known for, it was his ballroom. The high, painted ceiling, with shining chandeliers hanging, the magnificent pillars which were carved by many skilled dwarves, and the walls, which held beautiful tapestries and paintings depicting battles and feasts from Old Narnia. So many memories were held here, so many different people and creatures walked and danced here. Of course, there were painful memories to; Liliandal's funeral, the fury of heir Prince Rilian before he disappeared, her foolhardy request to go in search of the lost Prince. All of these memories belonged to Old Narnia, and yet they lived on in this new, fresh world.
Erin stood, observing each piece of art on the walls. She was glad to be here, where Aslan was. She had woken up on the cool stone floor to find the majestic Lion staring down at her, with His eyes smiling softly at hers. By the time she had finished blinking in surprise, he had disappeared, along with her chance of asking if her dear King Caspian and beloved Queen Liliandil were here as well. Her heart ached as she thought of the royal family; they were the only real family she had, besides her late relatives, and she knew that they had not made it here. At least she still held their memory and their swords, which were tucked tight in their sheaths. So many happy, painful memories were flooding her as she gazed about the ballroom. Would anyone find her here? Should she leave, and search for the family she had sworn herself to serve? She didn't know what to do with herself.
As she tried to figure out what to do, she drew forth her two scimitars, and absent-minded she began practicing with them, toying with precise cuts and showy flourishes.
Perhaps I should make my way to the stables, she thought as her swords x-uppercutted through her imaginary opponent. Maybe there will be a Horse who can tell me where to find someone. I might as well take some action. She finished with her dance, poised and balanced between her twin blades. At least she hadn't lost her touch. Outfit: Just to give you an idea

A rather callous gasp echoed through the ballroom as Dinah LeLouvier entered, hands clasped together behind her back as she casually entered, eyes wandering over the large structure. "Bravo, bravo my darling!" Dinah sung with a laugh, clapping her hands together before letting them find their place on her hip bones. "I never knew your boyfriend here was such a marvelous dancer as well. May I borrow him? Oh..." Her small digits placed themselves over her lips as she pondered for a moment or two, as well as attempting to hide the sly grin that began to form. "I believe that's my mistake, dear. You seem to've no one with you." A snicker left her lips in the middle of her sentence, her head turning to look away from her as she tried to regain composure.
Dinah had been traveling a bit with Ireth since they'd met, and well she adored the older woman quite a bit. Dinah was taking lessons from Ireth and much more. Hint how she managed to find herself here in the ballroom of Caspian and Liliandil's castle. Because Ireth wanted to visit or was invited. Dinah was a bit wary of the details but did not care one way or another. She'd been taking mental notes on how to be a better person, and yet in this current situation, it showed how they've not quite sunk in just yet. Naturally Dinah was a bitter, cynical little girl. It ran with the whole Calmoren trait in her. Needless to say, this girl before her just happened to be the only one she could find alone that would most likely be a willing target who couldn't have her executed for being so rude.
Which leads us back into the current predicament. A disgusted gasp came from Dinah's lips, her hand coming to rest on her chest as her eyes shut, and head shook in disgust. Eyes looking downward, she let her hands drop by her sides as she approached the girl a tad, though keeping a buffer distance. As if she expected the girl to strike out at her, this way Dinah had enough space to jump back if so. "How crude of me. Please, do disregard those words. I tend to speak of that which I see so clearly before me, as I should not. Some should of course, be left blissfully unaware of how unhappy their life is!" Dinah circled her, eyes scanning up and down just taking in every little aspect of the girl before falling back in front of her, a very serious face suddenly on. "Such a pretty girl, left so homely."

Erin didn't jump when she heard the gasp; granted, she was surprised, but she had heard the soft sounds of footsteps approaching the ballroom for some time. She ignored the girl's insult as she tucked away her blades, disappointed that it wasn't someone who she knew. The girl seemed almost her age, if not exactly, and by the way she was dressed and held herself, she was someone of noble blood. Erin noted, however, that while she might have the blood of a lady, she certainly did not have the manners of one. She seemed to be quite fluent in the maliciousness of a typical "lady", though, and while her first insult and her manner towards Erin were slightly annoying, her second comment did.
"There is no such thing as an unhappy life," Erin had learned. "There were only unhappy circumstances, with worse decisions." It wouldn't do to say these things to this girl, she suspected, for a noble would know little of these things unless they were Narnian, and by Aslan's Mane, this girl did not hold a drop of Narnia's magic in her.
As the girl circled Erin, she kept her gaze forward, knowing that she was being examined. Her clothes were clean, at least, but she could feel the disgust seeping from the girl's eyes, for Erin was wearing men's clothing. She had her reasons: it was cheap, easy to move in, and much more comfortable than the heavy, expensive dresses such as the one being worn by the vulture circling her.
Just stay calm, she told herself. Ignore her. Nothing she can say could possibly-
"Such a pretty girl, left so homely."
Erin's body twitched; normally, such comments on her appearance or attire did nothing to irk her, but what this - this pompous courtesean had just implied was that her superiors were to blame! She glared at the girl, turning to face her.
"Why, thank you so much," she said, her fingers flexing with anger by her side. "But, unlike you, I perfer to wear common, uninsulting and modest clothes that do not make me look like a vain pampered brat." She stepped closer, knowing that it would only serve to disgust the noble further. "You are in the castle of King Caspian, which holds more honor and history in one stone than all of your so-called "noble" blood! Show some modesty, you louse!" Her hands rested on her scimitar's hilts, and although she did not intend to use them, she certainly felt a firey need to strike the girl down.

Ireth had wandered away from Caspian and most of the poeple in the castle headed to the ballroom to find her younger sister. Ireth figured she would be there. As she swept into the room she noticed another girl was there, holding weapons and standing far to close to Dinah to her liking. As she stepped into the room she heard the girls venomous tone and scathing words to her younger sister, and the rage instantly overcame her. She made her footsteps heavy and commanded all of the regal and command of a true Narnian and Fae queen. She walked quickly up to the two girls and gave both of them a look. She nodded to her sister and gave the girl the darkest glare she could. "You insolent little witch" Ireth said in a darkly calm voice, the girl had darned not bow when she walked into the room
"You dare insult the younger sister and favored companion of a queen? In the home of King Caspian X? When this girl is here with me, as my guest, while i am a guest of his. Do not speak of a man you do not know. Who are you you insolent little girl? " She asked with venom in her voice

Dinah's lips had curled into a grin as if she were about to laugh. Her eyes fluttered as she stared at the ground for a moment. A louse eh? Was that the best this girl could come up with as an insult? Pity, she was hoping this would've been a challenge. Oh well, some girls let their emotions rule their brain. Dinah had finally formed the exact words she wanted to utter to this girl to send her into an even greater frenzy, but the words never did come out. Instead she caught a glimpse of Ireth entering the room. The corner of Dinah's lips twitched with great enjoyment as she heard Ireth begin to scold the girl about speaking so harshly to her sister. The word caused Dinah to beam. She gave a respectful curtsy to Ireth, as her older sister though not as her superior as she'd requested. She walked over a bit, standing beside Ireth.
She placed a hand gently on Ireth's elbow, just to let her know she was here and understood. Also in a sort of 'apology' for 'causing this'. While she'd never openly admit she truly was the one causing this, she did want Ireth to know she never meant for her to get involved. Even if Dinah loved that Ireth jumped to her defense so lovingly. No one ever had done that before. "Ireth, she's a foolish little insignificant prat. She knows nothing of manners. Why, a shrub raises a better offspring." Dinah's eyebrows furrowed into one of concern and love as she gazed up at the older woman, her voice suddenly so sweet and soft, as if she were a peace maker. "Let the slow witted bafoon realize she's incorrect."
Turning back to the other girl, she looked at her slipping her a rather devious smile for a moment before saying, "I'd feel it best if you bowed before your superior..." As she said superior, Dinah flipped her head up to Ireth to signal she was talking about her, then placing a gentle finger on her own chest. "...And remain silent unless spoken to by Queen Ireth." A small gasp left her lips as if she recalled something as she lowered her voice into a rather dark yet still sweetiepie tone as she said, "And if I am a louse, my dear, that would make you the scum of the earth. Unwanted...unloved. I feel awfully bad for you. Striking against innocent passerbys."

If Erin had felt the need to defend her superior's honor before, it certainly burned with a new and brighter flame. Erin knew that she had acted rashly, but now that she saw the game that they were playing at, she now knew how to retaliate, since old-fashioned venom did nothing. She closed her eyes and calmed herself, regaining her compusure. It was a fiendish, terrible and dishonest game to play, but Erin was not good at losing games. She gave the two a smile; a sickingly sweet smile, and bowed deeply, not letting her eyes off of the so called "Queen".
"Oh, my most sincere apologies, my ladies," she said, staying in her bow. "I did not realize that I was standing before such...high people." She rose, and continued: "Permit me to let myself known, for as I do not know you, you do not know me. I am Erin Priddy, daughter of those long deceased and the radiant Queen Liliandil's personal bodyguard. I am also one of her closest advisors, and was one of the first volunteers to go out in search of the heir Prince Rilian."
Now, her sweet expression turned somewhat dark as she addressed the next problem. "I only bow to you for you are a guest of my King and Queen, for I will not acknowledge a lady who implies insult against them in my prescence, as your dear sister did only moments before." She glanced at the girl and smirked. "Besides, you are hardly innocent; unless, of course, implying insult to my superiors and continuous insults to me is something you nobles do for sport."
"And, there are only three Queens who I serve and bow to: High Queen Susan, Queen Lucy, and the radiant Queen Liliandil. I know no other queen."

Ireth smiled, now she remember this girl. Her hair had been shorter, and she had mistaken her for a boy when they had first met. She wondered where the well mannered, sweet girl she had met before had gone. "I remember you now. We were introduced shortly after Rillian's birth, I came to visit and bring gifts to the young prince and congratulate my friends on the birth. Although most of the visit was spent with your King, discussing the war with Calmoren and my people. I do wonder where the well mannered girl got off too?" She told the girl
"How dare insinuate that i insulted either of them. Be sure i will be speaking to the both of them about your behavior, I know for a fact neither of them would approve of this. I have known your King since he was first crowned, and the four of the golden age. You might have heard of King Edmund's love of chess? And perhaps Caspian might have told you a story about a chess game between my Just friend and a Fae queen, that lasted two days. A fae queen by the name of Ireth, we are one in the same young one. I have seen the tides of these nations change and tempered my sword for my own country and Narnia as a whole, when the six most important people to me could not, for almost 4 millennia, do not think to can mock me Craban*" She told the girl her voice dropping down into the dead calm of before. Ireth pulled back a strand of hair to revel her pointed ears and let her fire magic go, taking all of the flame out of the room, holding it in her hand, and then putting it back.
Now she turned to her sister, "did you insult this girl first Sister? I will not have you insulting any of the people in Caspian's home with out just cause. You need to apologize for the things after i got here. " she told her with a stern look, but then turned to the girl. "And i know for another fact that no matter what was said to you or about you, Caspian or Liliandil would never approve you speaking the way you did, they also taught you to be respectful of other royals, weather you serve them or not. And Susan's title is Queen, Peter is the only one with High in his title." She told the girl gently. With the mention of his name she placed her hand at her throat, where the lion necklace lay, the necklace that reminded her of him
(oooc i looked it up on the Narnia wiki, Peter is in fact the only High one. -gigglesnorts- Oh and the random word is elvish for something like brat, but she said it so erin wouldn't know what she's saying)

How did this woman know who she was? Or that she cut her hair when she took her oaths to protect Liliandil? Very few people knew anything about her, let alone recognized her. It was as if this so called "Queen" knew Erin personally!
All at once, as the woman was speaknig to her about the past kings and queens, Erin realized who she was speaking to. Her face lit up and the dark emotions were immediately washed away. This was Ireth! Ireth, who had given her a few instructions on how to make her swordplay look like a dance; who had been alongside Liliandil as they persuaded her to try on a nymph dress; who still looked graceful even when she had grieved for their dead Liliandil. Erin felt the same emotions of many years ago flooding her, and she felt like a child again when she reached out to embrace her long-lost friend and role model.
"Ireth! How-"
Erin stopped herself short, as a new sort of realization washed over her. She had been sarcastic and dark to Ireth's face! She had never even held any sort of spite against the lovely woman, and now she found herself to be cast as the villain. She retracted herself, her face hot with an embarassed blush. How could dear Ireth ever forgive her now?! She stammered as she tried to find words:
"Ah, um, I am, I mean, could you, or..." Erin took a breath, and bowed her head, hoping that Ireth could somehow, someway, forgive Erin for her stupid mistake. "I am so sorry!" She said this to only Ireth, of course, for now the girl who had insulted her from the beginning was now entirely out of mind.

How on earth could Ireth ever suddenly go from increasingly angry to overwhelmingly calm? It utterly confused Dinah to no end. Her fingers fixed themselves on the top rim of her corset, just listening quietly to the two conversate. So she indeed knew this little pathetic girl from her past. Then how dare she even consider a rude, bitter stance to the queen. Even after her name had been presented before her. When the girl finally realized who she was speaking to and apologized, Dinah's eyes rolled gingerly before she looked over at the door. Perhaps there was more fun to be found elsewhere. This brat wasn't worth the effort any longer. With such an attitude of 'the world owes me', Dinah didn't feel like listening to jolly conversation between old chums. If she wanted to listen to boring conversation, she'd listen to her mother lecture her.
When Ireth turned to her and said she should apologize, a huff came from her lips as if offended by the term apologize. Such a thing was not in Dinah's vocabulary. Apologies were for the weak, and Dinah sure as hell wasn't emotionally weak. Raising an eyebrow, she looked over at this Erin girl as she said rather cooly - directed at Ireth. "Forgive me but, surely when she speaks with modesty and dignity in her voice, then perhaps my words would be...much softer. But for now..." Her body turned to face Erin completely as she kept her voice very calm and relaxed. Almost eerie how sweet Dinah suddenly sounded. "When one does not show respect to me, I shall return just as much to them. Respect goes both ways, does it not Mistress?" A soft smile formed on her lips as she called Erin by a title. Deny it was lower than her status, but Dinah felt it fit for what she claimed to be. "Just as words are simply that; words. They hold no power, no significance, unless the body allows them to have meaning."
She tilted her head for a moment or two, staring up at the ceiling as if debating to continue, but naturally Dinah was going to. "Words spoken with even the most acrimony, hold no value unless the body allows them to. Wherein, they've given the person they're disgusted by control. Something - I'm rather sure - you'd rather be above, Mistress, hm?" Sighing to herself, she gave a very brief curtsy as her way of 'apologizing'. Though no sincerity was held in it, she figured it would suffice for now. Taking a step back, so that she fell in line beside Ireth, she kept quiet, a quite pleasant look over her face. Just allow her brain to flow out, and think of other things while they carry on their boring conversation.

"Erin you should be deeply ashamed of yourself. I can not believe that you would act like that. The girl i taught and told Lili i would be proud to have as my guard is obviously gone. I do hope your manners will improve. And i expect you to apologize to my sister, she may have said callous things un-befitting her standing once i entered the room, but i can not imagine her saying anything to provoke something like what you did." Ireth told her calmly.
Yes Di need to apologize, but so did Erin. She had been dangerously out of line, speaking to a queen and her sister like that. Had it been anyone else she probably would have found herself with her head cut off. Ireth felt that the Erin in front of her forgot that she was a common girl.
"Di is very right, words have no meaning unless you give it to them." Ireth said and then looked over at Erin "Do you think Erin you could maybe temper yourself and act more like the girl you used to be?" She asked and then looked at her sister, kissed her cheek and asked "And sister if Erin promises to act more like the girl i knew, that you could maybe try and find some common ground?" She asked her

Pressing her lips together, Erin took in the queen's words; what HAD come over her? Now that she was thinking back to her past, she was acting like her younger self, when she was getting broken in and trained. It was embarassing in total, and once Ireth finished, she nodded. She turned to the girl that had irked her and sighed.
"I am sorry, truly. Forgive me, if you may." Confusion caused her to bite her lip, and as she turned back to Ireth, she said, "I honestly don't know what possessed me to say such ugly things; ever since I arrived here, I feel as if my mind is shifting in between my younger, immature self and my more responsible side. I..." She chuckled, still feeling hot from her mistake. "I, well, I suppose there isn't much I can say in other reasons of an excuse."
She looked back from the girl and Ireth, noticing how close they were, and although Erin herself didn't expect much in terms of apology from the girl, she could see that she might comply with her "sister". She decided it wouldn't be best to think about such a topic, though, and moved on to asking the two:
"How long have you been in New Narnia? You are really the first people I've seen thus far, so I must also ask; are Caspian and Lili here? Or Rilian?" Hopefully they were here, and hopefully they wouldn't realize just how much of a fool Erin had made herself. She realized, though, that while she was admitting to her faults and being honest with the two women in front of her, that she was feeling more like her older self, and she thanked Aslan for this. Perhaps that's why she had seen him when she first arrived? Had he decided that she would ultimately choose which side she would become? She didn't know the answers to these questions, but hopefully she had learned some lesson in this.

Dinah bit her lower lip out of habit, just chewing on it lightly watching the two debating on whether to make her exit known or keep it silent and swoop out. Unfortunately it seemed Ireth still had to address her in some sense. Ah now she couldn't swoop out and search other places. She'd not dare upset someone so sweet to her. Dinah went to give a smile, though it quickly wiped itself away as she listened to what Ireth said. While Ireth was agreeing with Dinah, she still told her to find common ground with the other girl. Inner turmoil broke loose inside of Dinah, dancing evidently in her bright blue eyes. Play nice? Another set of words not in her vocabulary.
She'd been raised to think when you were below a station you worshiped the ground they walked on. While Dinah normally didn't act that way, she couldn't help but get a bit uppity at times. Rolling her head on her neck, her lips pursed together in serious debate as she looked from Erin to Ireth. Naturally she just assumed she'd do no such thing as apologize. And to her pleasant surprise, she heard Erin do just that; apologize. Looking over at the girl, Dinah's eyebrow rose in slight surprise. Dinah turned to face Erin completely, her hands clasped together in front of her. "If it pleases you both, I admit wrong doing. I...." It wasn't in Dinah to literally apologize. She just couldn't bring herself to say she was sorry. No, she couldn't do that, too weak. Giving a very fragile smile she continued. "Calmoren, we're all rude. How'er. If you are willing, I shall be glad to start a new with you."
And as if to prove it, she held out one hand daintily for Erin to take as she smiled broadly and proudly said, "Princess Dinah of the Fae. Pleasure is all mine to meet you, dearest."
"How long have you been in New Narnia? You are really the first people I've seen thus far, so I must also ask; are Caspian and Lili here? Or Rilian?"
Dinah frowned slightly, glancing up at Ireth smiling in return to the kiss before looking back at Erin. Her head shook lightly as she said, "I've not seen any of them, I'm afraid. Sister...?" Dinah inquired, looking up at Ireth as she gripped onto Ireth's bicep lightly again in a loving manner.
