There really was no comfort in anyone's words anymore. Dinah's dull blue eyes watched lazily as yet another woman pandered off to do as she was told. Perhaps it was the wrong decision to come and see what her father was up to instead of staying around with Ireth. Dinah rolled her head around on her neck, gazing up at the pretty blue sky for a moment or two before jolting her body into action. She didn't want to stand and pout in one spot all day. Nor did she feel like entering Caspian's Castle. She knew very well how these royals meetings went. She wanted no part of it. Even if taking part would cause her father to perhaps more appreciation for her, Dinah didn't feel it was worth the boredom.
Instead she felt it would be appropriate to wander about the exterior of the palace instead. It seemed reasonable enough in her mind, so it worked quite well for the girl. Skipping rather joyfully around a corner, Dinah was careful not to mess any of the scenery up. She didn't want to give the Calmoren a worse name than they already had, now did she? Though she presumed she was a part of that bad name. Her attitude often caused her to think she was unpleasant company. Which, frankly, she knew she was. It never stopped her from trying to find someone to talk to, though. Just to pester someone, it'd be a lot of fun to her. To cause great annoyance and all. If she got a rise out of them or if she didn't, it never really mattered. The point was it was someone new to talk to and she wanted that kind of companionship. Of course companionship for her meaning someone to use for a moment or two, then leave be.
By the time Dinah had collected her thoughts together, she found herself at the edge of the shuddering woods. Dinah's features twisted in both wonder and annoyance. Wonder for the mere fact all of nature was something lovely to behold. But great annoyance for the fact she knew she was going to enter regardless of her own warnings not to, and eventually would probably get lost. The inevitable would happen, but frankly she didn't care at this moment. If she got lost it'd give her time to think things out; have a nice long conversation with herself. It sounded rather insane but it helped her quite a bit. Her shoulders hunched forward slightly as she bent over, plucking a tiny little dandy lion out of the ground and carrying it along with her, pressed to her nose, as she wandered a tad into the woods. She loved flowers. Someday perhaps if she were to ever marry, her husband would be as kind as to bring her flowers on a regular basis. That'd be lovely, now wouldn't it?
Dinah found a fallen tree, sitting down on it, just twirling the dandy lion over and over in between her small digits. She wasn't far from the entrance, so when she saw a male approaching she of course wasn't startled. A rather gracious smile formed on her lips as she called out, "May I help you, m'lord?"

It had been a long day meeting with the people in his court, and Caspian just need a bit of fresh air. He had escaped the castle and had spent a few minutes walking around in the gardens outside. That had helped, but he was trying to postpone going back to mingle with everyone else. It really was quite a bore, and it only made him miss his days visiting the Pevensies at Cair Paravel. It really had given him the much needed break he had been wanting. Besides, he had been able to forget his responsibilities as a king while he had been there, and that had been a relief. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy ruling over his own lands, as he did in the other Narnia, it was just that sometimes it did get somewhat tiring. He was glad that he did have people he once knew in Aslan's Country. It made things feel more at home.
As he walked the gardens, he spotted a woman he had seen earlier. She was wearing a silver and gold gown that was actually quite lovely. He remembered he had been intrigued by her during the meeting of his court, and he thought now would be a good opportunity to actually meet her personally. He knew her by name of course, because they had been introduced, but it wasn't exactly on a relaxed basis. Now that they were both outside and alone he could risk getting a little more personal and friendly with her. Not that he was looking to get too friendly, but the idea of feeling comfortable around more people encouraged him to try and build a closer relationship with the people around him if at all possible.
He followed her out past the castle gardens toward the Shuddering Wood. She seemed oblivious to his presence, as if she were in her own little world. Perhaps she was thinking about something, or enjoying he scenery and she didn't think to look behind her. He wasn't purposefully being quiet. He wondered just how far she intended to go. Most people avoided the Shuddering Wood even in Aslan's Country. There were still things to worry about in Aslan's Country, as most things that were created in the beginning thrived in the real Narnia. She had picked a dandelion and had entered the woods, still holding the flower and smelling it.
Not wanting her to wander too far so that she got lost, Caspian continued to follow her and was just about make himself known to her when he heard a feminine voice speak over the sound of the trees whispering in the wind. She inquired if she could do anything for him, and for a moment he didn't know what to say as he was somewhat surprised she had seen him. He had assumed she had continued walking deeper into the forest, but instead, she was sitting on a log nearby its entrance, the flower still in her hand. “Oh … no..sorry, I was just...” a slow blush appeared on Caspian's face and he cleared his throat. What would she think of him he said he had been following her? Hopefully she wouldn't think he had ill intentions. “Following you … to make sure you were safe... the Shuddering Wood isn't exactly known for safety.” Caspian hoped his explanation would be sufficient. She didn't seem like a person that was easily offended, but he supposed he would find out soon enough.

Dinah's happy, pleasant smile faded a tad as she watched the man approach. King Caspian X was the one approaching her. And here she still sat on her rump as if it were some other noble of her status. But to curtsy late, would that not be just as rude? She wasn't quite sure. Technically she'd already done the respectful thing when her father had introduced her to the king. As were all others who came, but none the less, should she do it again? Slowly but surely, Dinah got to her feet, fixing the back of her dress for a moment or two before approaching Caspian and giving another curtsy; the flower still clamped in her hand.
"I do apologize, your grace." She said, giving a sweet smile to him as she stood up straight once more. The idea of being able to speak to the king himself was something Dinah adored. She was already close to Ireth, who knew Caspian. But alas she'd not been able to introduce the two as of yet. So here her chance was to make good with the King. Now was the time to be good and pleasant. Not her usual bitter and sarcastic self. Giving a friendly smile, her blue eyes gazed down at the dandelion for a moment or two, twirling it in between her fingers. "Following you … to make sure you were safe... the Shuddering Wood isn't exactly known for safety." Her eyebrow rose slightly, as a smirk twitched its way onto her lips. So Caspian was following her to make sure she was safe? Seemed a bit odd to her. Seeing as how he currently was suppose to be inside, cavorting about with the other royal and noble blooded folks. Keeping them entertained and all. Instead here he was standing before her.
Clearing her throat a bit, she looked around him for a moment or two trying to see if someone was following him as well. Dinah took a step back, still holding onto the flower loosely. "While it is increasingly flattering that the King would worry of my safety, I must ask m'lord, why've you found yourself out here?" And almost as if she answered the one question in her mind, she shook her head to show he should dismiss it. Dinah gave another friendly smile as she turned walking into the woods just a bit more, back over to the log she was sitting on before. "Most places are no longer safe. But the company would be well adored, of course if m'lord cares to stay. I must warn, I do question a lot."

Caspian titled his head and watched her as she twirled the flower between her fingers and lifted it up to her nose to smell it. Her eyes seem to shine with a bit of playfulness, or so he thought that's what it was. When the question came up as to why he was outside, he shrugged and sighed. Should he admit he was bored mingling with his guests? She was a guest, so he didn't want her to think he was bored of everyone. But that was the truth, and she had already guessed that the main reason he was outside of the castle was not to follow her. It just so happened that he had seen her and decided to follow her – mainly out of curiosity than anything else. But how much should he tell her? Why was he so conflicted?
“Well, to be honest, I found myself rather bored mingling with everyone. I hate these long occasions. I don't see the need to have so many meetings like this...especially now that we're in Aslan's Country. I mean, surely there are more important things we could be doing....like relaxing....or...something...” The last part of the sentence sounded a little like a stutter, and Caspian ran his hand through his hair and looked at her. “Why have you wandered so far away from the castle, Lady LeLouvier?” Now it was Caspian's turn to ask the obvious question. Perhaps she too, had been bored of the stuffy gathering inside the royal chambers. The out of doors was a much nicer place to be, his opinion. If he had choice he'd be back at Cair Paravel swimming in the Eastern Ocean.

Dinah let off a soft, comfortable sigh as she sat back down on the log. She frowned to herself a little bit, looking over at Caspian once more and smiling. Didn't want to make him think he was causing her grief or something of that manner. She gave a soft throat clear, as she held the flower out to Caspian as she asked, "Would you like it? It'd be much better with you than I." Of course it meant it to be a compliment of sorts. Supposedly to flatter. You know to get some kind of conversation rolling between the two. Not that she felt awkward around him...alright she did just a little bit.

As Caspian spoke of growing wary of the conversation inside, Dinah couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. "I understand m'lord. They do carry rather dull conversations." She smiled, placing the flower back in her lap as her fingers ran through her long brown hair, throwing it over one shoulder in one toss. She understood fully that those conversations weren't fun at all. She once had to stand with her father to represent how good his children were, and lord was it tiring to listen to them go back and forth. So none the less, Dinah didn't blame Caspian at all. Besides he probably went to a lot more of them than she ever did. So he grew tired much quicker than she.
Her eye brow rose lightly as she heard him inquire why she'd left the party. Not to mention he remembered her name. That was a great feat, she had to say herself. He heard names every day in about a thousand ways so naturally to remember one became difficult. "Oh, I've never been well equipped for such conversations. I never was taught much. But Ireth is changing that. She's teaching me. So perhaps one day I can converse with those inside. But for now, I'll enjoy your forest."
