Dinah's eyes lit up slightly at the prospect of having the entire day all to herself in Cair Paravel. Such a beautiful castle and surrounding area! One that now she didn't have to share with her baby sister, but alone with herself. No let mother and daughter bond over whatever it is they bond over. Dinah will enjoy her alone time much as she always did. Walking along the cliff edge daintily, Dinah kept her hands held out at either side of her body as if she were walking a tight rope. She was at no risk of falling and tumbling to a rather unpleasant ground below, but that didn't stop Dinah from just enjoying the idea of danger. This was about as close as she would ever get to it. Perhaps her daily worry was in fact cinching a corset a tad too tight, so this was adventurous to someone like Dinah. Pretty, little Dinah didn't want to ever ruin her appearance by stupid risks just to have a 'grand time' as she'd heard it called.
Dinah had a nasty habit of eavesdropping on any conversation she could. Her way of living life, she supposed. Through others adventures. That way she enjoy the tales, the infamy from it without having to actually live the danger and fear. Oh yes, it all seemed treacherous and disturbing to someone as relaxed and well, easily startled as Dinah. Even learning how to sword fight seemed far to risky. What if she were to trip, fall and cut herself that way? Or cause bodily harm by some stupid mistake? She was a rather clumsy girl, always tripping on her dress and own feet. It would be much worse with a weapon in hand, now wouldn't it? Dinah was merrily trying to look out for her friends and family's safety by not learning how to fight. She had a meager little steak knife she kept on her person, that was enough for the type of danger she normally got in. No one had once approached her in an aggressive manner. Though there wasn't many to approach you in such a way out in Calmoren. Frowning to herself, she couldn't help but wonder what her life would've been like if she'd grown up around other kids. Perhaps she wouldn't be so easily frightened then; she'd have tougher skin so to say.
No matter, wishing for such things wouldn't make them come true. Glancing down for a moment, Dinah noticed a figure walking about on the beach. Her feet skipped a few steps, trying to keep in stride with the person below. They seemed to be pacing; something that wasn't exactly easy in her outfit. Grabbing her dress, she picked it up some, squatting down and gripping the earth, leaning over some. Just to get a better look at who it was wandering about. No such luck, unfortunately. Dinah bit down on her lower lip as she sat down on her feet, placing her hands neatly on her lap. Why she was wandering about up here when she could be down on the beach she didn't know. There had to be some way down to the beach from here...Pushing herself up off the ground, Dinah grabbed the sides of her skirt once again picking them up just enough so she could run a tad better. The young girl brushed her hands on any passing stone, just enjoying the feel of this entire place. Nature was so lovely to her, even if she and it didn't see eye to eye on most occasions.
As she rounded a soft sloping corner, Dinah stumbled to a halt to catch her breath. Her hands went onto her waist, as she glanced around her surroundings. Her child like curiosity caused her to begin to wonder, was that person she saw earlier still down on the beach? Creeping around a rock slowly, Dinah's hands pressed against it as she leaned forward to see if she could spot the figure once more. There they were. Facing out to the beach, probably lost in their own thoughts. Dinah would love to have enough tantalizing thoughts to be able to lose herself in them. Hers were often dull, lifeless and boring. They lost her attention as quickly as they revealed themselves. A gasp fled from Dinah's lips as she slipped back down to the ground, hoping the figure hadn't seen her when it turned around. What if they thought she was stalking them? That would not be a pleasant conversation to have. Oh no, I wasn't stalking you. I was just watching you secretly from a distance and pondering on what you were thinking. Yup, didn't sound suspicious at all.
Looking back out, Dinah mumbled a bloody hell to herself as she realized they were gone. Stumbling back to her feet, she cleared her throat and looked around. Her body jolted as she saw another woman walking toward her. Well, that was her signal to go ahead and make her exit. Dinah quickly scuttled around the stone she'd been leaning against earlier, her heart thumping loudly in her chest so she was sure the woman could hear it. Looking back over her shoulder at the woman, her steps halted as she turned to face her once again, a sudden thought coming to her mind. A finger went up, pointing square at the girl as she walked back toward her, a sly grin over Dinah's face. "'Ey. I know who you are! You're that Queen. Queen um...." Dinah pursed her lips gently as her face overcame with thought before finishing, "Queen Ireth. Yeah, that one. You're much prettier than I've heard you to be." Oh, Dinah, you charmer...

Ireth couldn't exactly put her finger on how she had ended up out on the beach. She had just been walking, the men she normally spent her time with doing their duties. She smiled fondly as she remembered the way Peter had looked envious that she could have the whole day to do abousltuly nothing, while he and his siblings had to run their kingdoms and deal with everything that came with being a ruler.
She stood facing the sea, in her court big dress, with no shoes fanning herself. She had gotten lost in the thoughts of her own country and of her brothers and of course her sisters.
Ireth was jerked out of her thoughts when she heard a small gasp, her over sensitive ears picking up the small noise. She turned and began walking to where she had heard the noise come from. The young girl was walking away from her, untill she turned and looked over at her. "'Ey. I know who you are! You're that Queen. Queen um....Queen Ireth. Yeah, that one. You're much prettier than I've heard you to be."
Ireth smiled at the girl and took her chin in her hand, surveying her. She was a very pretty girl, but Ireth could not remember being introduced to her. "Dowager Queen Ireth, child. No matter how much their highnesses insist on using my old title. And who might you be?" she asked the girl

Awkward situations; they were something Dinah seemed to be gifted at finding or well, in this case, creating. She drew in a deep breath as she felt the woman's hand grasp around her chin lightly, her small digits gripping onto the silk dress as she kept her mouth shut. To interrupt or cause for a blunder in front of a queen was something she knew she would not be able to come back from. You mess up like that and well, the world could seized to turn for you, if you caught the drift. Though this woman's gentle face led Dinah to believe she'd never be capable of such ruthless tact. Not that she was weak, but more understanding than anything.
"Dowager Queen Ireth, child. No matter how much their highnesses insist on using my old title. And who might you be?"
Her lips slowly curled, forming the word dowager in a thoughtful manner before nodding to show she understood. Which she did. She'd heard some things about this queen of the fae, her past so to speak. They weren't such kind words, they way they'd been spoken in front of young Dinah. Though this woman didn't seem as devilish as her mother would speak of her. Dinah returned her smile, hands sliding to the sides of her legs as she pulled her skirt out on either side, giving a small curtsy to the woman. "Dowager Queen Ireth, then, I am Lady Dinah LeLouvier. From Calmoren."
Her body recoiled, coming back into a standing position as she smiled up at Ireth. It was a moment or two of hesitant silence from Dinah before the words finally spilled forth, "Why are you....here? Mind my inquiries." Dinah was a prim example of curiosity killing the cat. That being one of the main reasons her father referred to her as his little kitty. He teased her that one day she'd ask someone far too many questions, and the nine lives she so proudly claimed to possess - in a joking sense - would no loner exist. Dinah of course was trying to keep herself from allowing all the questions in her mind to pour forth.
While she was sure the gracious Ireth would not be all that bothered by her curiosity, she did not want to seem to intrude on her privacy. Speaking of which...Clearing her throat, Dinah took a step back, glancing back down at the beach as she confessed, "I was watching you, earlier...But not in a...eerie meaning. I just...I grow wary of nothingness, is all. I apologize. I'm no threat to you, I promise." A very light hearted smile crossed her lips as she prayed for understanding. tag loverly ireth <3 word count 452 outfit clicketh

Ireth couldn't help the smile that bloomed across her face. This girl was very young and she could tell she was very curious. She was also nervous, she was sure her reputation had preceeded her, especially now that she knew the young girl was a Calmoren noble girl. The country and hers had not always had the best relations.
She chuckled in a very unqueenly manner when Dinah asked her why she was out on the beach, her voice timid. "I do not mind at all, i was simply walking. My normal companions are occupied." she told the girl with a smile
"I was watching you, earlier...But not in a...eerie meaning. I just...I grow wary of nothingness, is all. I apologize. I'm no threat to you, I promise." Ireth laugh was full and loud. "Child i know you mean me no harm and I do not mind you watching me. I too grow weary of nothingness when my normal companions are not around. How would you like to be my companion Dinah. I am not much fun for doing lady like things, but i enjoy reading and teaching and chess, and i am very often found in the gardens or the beach. I may be old, but i can have fun." she told the young girl

Perhaps she was coming across far too needy or awkward. Perhaps she was coming across as both to Ireth. Annoyance was another thing Dinah was sure she was causing for her. Dinah knew Calmoren - her home - was perhaps one of the more hated governments. She knew from her father and mother's discussions that they were not well liked by Narnians, the fae, or well just about everyone out there. A radical government, one that was probably only held back by the desert and brutal natural surroundings. Funny how something that seemed so insignificant most of the time could cause for a great blockade against insanity. Dinah in fact hoped to move out of Calmoren sooner than later. The rest of the world seemed much more pleasant than her home did.
Companions...Odd form of expression for a friend. Maybe to Ireth that's all they were; companions. Not quite her acquaintance but definitely not in the line of friend yet. Dinah couldn't help but wonder if one day she could be called a companion to the pretty Ireth. God that would be such a lovely thing to rub in her family's face. Without them she could gain more friends in higher places, that's for sure. When they were present, she seemed to be shoved in the back. Mama wanted to show off her 'baby' girl, not the brat. Dinah didn't mind it. She was use to names by her age.
Dinah couldn't help but jump as Ireth suddenly burst into laughter at her previous statement. Did....did she really find Dinah that funny? A nervous, rather hesitant chuckle escaped her lips as her eyes shone with confusion for a moment or two before she listened to her speak. That's when they lit up with such excitement. How would she - tiny pathetic Dinah - like to be the beautiful lovely Queen's companion? She had to suppress quite a bit of her reaction as Dinah replied eagerly, "Why I feel I'd be blessed to've such a title to my name! What is it m'lady Ireth would care to do for fun?" Dinah asked, walking beside Ireth as she bounced on her heels lightly, ready to go. tag loverly ireth <3 word count 452 outfit clicketh

Ireth could see the young girl disecting what she ment when she said companions. It had been a very long time since Ireth had needed to switch her wording of things so that people would understand what she was saying. Calmoren was different from her lands and Narnia. To them companions were "for the moment friends". She smiled at the girl. "Dinah when i say the word companion i mean that they are my most dear friends." she explained gently
"Why I feel I'd be blessed to've such a title to my name! What is it m'lady Ireth would care to do for fun?" the smaller girl said to her. Yes something would have to be done about that, she acted much like she was underneath Ireth, not equal to her. "None of this m'lday nonsense. You are my companion, my friend, call me Ireth and there will be no bowing to me like a subject or noble does. If you must bow at all, it will be as a younger to older sister." she told her sternly but at the same time with care in her voice. She wanted her to understand.
"I've had almost 4,000 years to do what i want for fun. What would you like to do. Any thing you would like to learn? Anything at all i'll do. You are such a curious child and have a thirst to learn new things, something i value." She told the girl

Dinah nodded to show she understood as Ireth explained what she meant by a companion. Ah that cleared up quite a bit for the poor girl. A smile smeared itself across her lips as she spoke gently, "See, I was slightly confused. Since where I'm from, a companion is someone you keep for means of your own....you know, use." Dinah didn't feel that Ireth was the kind of woman to simply use someone to gain something, but when what you know collides with what you feel, it gets rather confusing. She breathed in, placing her hands on her stomach as she did so. It was an interesting feeling, breathing in while wearing a corset. It was like your entire torso collapsed into it self and disappeared for a moment or two. Magical in a way, then again she was easily amused.
Her small frame tensed itself up greatly as she heard the intensity in Ireth's voice. Such a sudden, abrupt change that was. One minute it was quite pleasant and relaxing, and now well she was snapping slightly. A stern tone, one that she only heard when in trouble. Which was always. Clearing her throat, Dinah shifted her weight again as her fingers hooked into the top rim of her corset nervously. She really wanted to reply with a yes m'lady, but that would cause for more issues. So instead, Dinah just gave a feeble smile as she spoke softly, "I understand, completely. Promise." Dinah was not the type to break a promise, either. She only did that with very specific things. And well she felt this was one of those specific things she probably should never forget.
"Learn something? Oh...dear me, no." Dinah gave a nervous laugh as she looked back out at the ocean for a moment or two before over at Ireth. "I'm not to know all that much. Calmoren women are for, well, I'm sure you know." Her eyes looked down for a moment before fluttering up again just remembering one thing she had been trying to learn. "My brother did try to show me how to fight...But." Her fingers stretched out as she pulled her dress out on its sides, spinning a bit to show her pretty little dress before haulting, "I don't want my dresses ruined. Foolish, I know."

She smiled at the girl and placed her hand on her shoulder. "I know exactly what you mean dear one." She told her
She had never liked the way the Calmoren people had relationships or how they treated women or the fact that they had slaves. Oh there was so much that he Calmoren's had that clashed with Ireth's idea of right. She did not want to tear this girl from her people, but she wanted to teach her to act more like a Fae or Narnian. Ireth frowned when she heard Dinah talk down about herself and say that because she was a women she didn't need to learn anything. "I will have none of that, you being a women has nothing to do with you learning. I will teach you like a younger Fae princess would. Politics, Language, Art, Dance all kinds of things. And then we will visit whoever put those silly ideas in your head and show them just how amazing you learned." she told her kissing her cheek
She smiled when the girl spun around in her dress. She knew just the weapon to teach Dinah, so that she would not get her dress dirty and still be able to protect herself. She materialized targets, some throwing knives and a two bows and quivers. "I have just the weapons for you." She told her with a smile

Dinah let out a long, rather relaxed sigh as her smile also became relaxed. This woman was so sweet, so understanding. Never before in her life had she become this comfortable around someone she'd just met. Dinah placed her hand ontop of Ireth's sweetly, just gazing up at her lovingly. "I'm glad you do. I do not wish to offend."
As she spoke of what Dinah would learn, her eyebrows rose in surprise. Her? Learning new things? Naturally she already knew how to dance. As a noble Calmoren woman she needed to know how to dance in order to mingle without being considered a tramp or well somethin lesser than that. Her hand slipped off of Ireth's slowly and back by her side as she spoke softly. "I know how to dance, already. I love it quite a lot. It's very elegant and luxurious if I must. B-But the other things..." Dinah shook her head as she smiled weakly. "I'm not the type to show off. I'm ah..." Clearing her throat, her smile faded and her voice lowered shamefully as she repeated some of her mother's earlier terms for her. "I'm the shrew."
Being told such things from a young age, they tended to become embedded in one's head. Dinah was no different in that sense. She'd already bought into the belief that she was going to die all by herself, a shrew and would never have a man who loved her. Now when Ireth said she knew what weapon would be perfect for her, Dinah's head tilted to the side as she asked, "Can I inquire of what it is?"

"You must stop being so timid and hard on yourself child. You are a beautiful, intelligent, sweet girl, who must never bow their head to anyone, your eyes yes. but never you head." She told the girl with a wide smile. Yes Ireth thought, she would teach Dinah everything she wished she could have taught her younger sisters had things been different.
A spark lit in Ireth's eyes when she heard the girl talking like that. She decided from then on, that no one would be able to make her feel like she was lower than what she was. "I wish to know exactly who is saying such awful, untrue things about the sister of a Fae Queen. You listen to me right now, i am going to teach you everything i ever learned, and take you traveling with me to visit other places. I am adopting you right here and now, by my magic and the laws of Fae magic you are now my younger sister and princess Dinah of the Fae." Ireth told her; and as she said it red, green, purple and black magic swirled around them. "And then we are going to go back to whoever said these things, and show them just how much better you are" she told her new sister, kissing her forehead
Ireth smiled at her curiosity and thirst for knowledge. "the first i will teach you are throwing knives, the second the bow and arrow." She said picking them both up, throwing one of the knives and hitting it dead on the target, then loading the bow and sending an arrow landing next to it.

"You must stop being so timid and hard on yourself child. You are a beautiful, intelligent, sweet girl, who must never bow their head to anyone, your eyes yes. but never you head."
The corner of Dinah's lips twitched slightly as she listened to Ireth scold her. Not necessarily scold her, but still. She gave a small frown and instinctively nodded as her reply. She really didn't know what to say other than, "Yes madam." Her voice softened slightly as she tried to you know just absorb what she said. She didn't necessarily agree with what she was saying about her. Dinah didn't find herself intelligent, plus she definitely was not sweet. Then the whole beautiful? No. Definitely no. But she knew it was better to pretend she agreed than to openly argue about such trivial things.
Her jaw dropped. That's all it could do. Her breathing picked up, almost as she forgot to breathe in the first place. Her hand went on her chest, making sure her heart was still going. Dinah's blue eyes weld up a bit with tears that she quickly blinked away. The shock and surprise was evident in her voice as she stammered, "P-Princess!? I....I..." Her hands grabbed onto one of Ireth's, falling to her knees as she kissed her knuckles. She gazed up at the woman from under her eyelashes, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks from utter joy. "Thank you. No one has ever been so kind...no one's ever had so much faith in me."
Dinah brought herself back to her feet, brushing the tears off her cheek as she smiled happily at her, sniffling a bit. "The words...they, they come from my mother. I am not her preferred daughter." Suddenly Ireth spoke of the weapons. She jumped slightly as she threw one and shot an arrow. She looked over at Ireth as she said, "You mean...right now? We're starting...right now?"

Ireth could see the look in the girls eyes one that told her she didn't believe what she was being told. "If you do not agree, do not pretend to. I'm going to keep telling you until you do though. Let me give you another piece of advice, one i hope you will always keep in the back of your head; if you do not stand for something, you shall fall for anything." Sh told her with a smile. Dinah had a lot to learn, and needed to grow her self confidence, but one day she would be an astounding Princess.
Ireth was going to kill whoever hurt this girl. She was such an good girl and had exceptional potential and yet no one had had faith or kind to her. She was going to make sure it all changed. "Up, up child none of that. Dinah let me tell you a story, one I'm sure you've heard rumors about, viscous whispers from people who know nothing. I had two younger sisters once, but they were jealous, spiteful and evil girls who wanted nothing but my throne. They tried many times to kill me and each time i forgave them, until once about two years after Peter and Susan and Edmund and Lucy came and helped Caspain, they attacked me in front of the entire Fae court. My people called for their deaths and even as their queen i had no choice. I tried many times to make my people think differently but it did not matter, they demanded their deaths. I am wary of young girls normally because of this, but i see much of myself in you Dinah and i wish you to know that you are everything i wish my sisters had been, and no one will ever hurt you and no harm will come to you as long as you live, which is going to be a very long time." she told the girl, pulling her from the ground and kissing her forehead.
Ireth sneered, there was nothing she despised more than a mother who did not care for her child the way she should. "Well it was your mothers loss and my gain isn't it and why yes we start right now" she said smiling before picking up the bow and placing it in her hands, then taking the arrow and placing her hands over Dinahs and showing her how to pull back. "Now hold it like this, and draw back, and then once you're sure on your aim, release it." Ireth said and it released the arrow a few seconds later. The arrow landed in the white outside the target, but she had still hit it. "It was a good first try." She told her encouragingly.
