It was still strange to Peter. He doubt that he would ever get used to the idea that he was dead. To be young forever and in top shape. Anyone would have jumped to that idea, but not Peter. He sighed as he stared down at his papers. The high king was in his study, preparing for a meeting that was taking place in the late afternoon hours right after lunch. And he was not looking forward to it at all. His thoughts were elsewhere at the moment. They were more focused on his ‘death’ than anything. The death of his parents and Lucy and Edmund. He had been most surprised to see Susan and learned that she had died as well. It was puzzling to him since she had often referred to Narnia as a childhood game and insisted that all of them forget about it. She wasn’t the same after they had come back a second time from helping Caspian to defeat his uncle Miraz. Peter had often wondered if it was Aslan who had finally decided on Susan’s fate to be in Narnia with her siblings instead of with their parents. And that was another subject Peter was having trouble wrapping around his head. He still couldn’t believe that his parents had been on the same train with them. The same train that had caused a crash and killed the Pevensie family.
And now they were here with their old friends again. The very place that Peter had dreamed about going for quite some time during his college years. Things had often gotten a little hard on him. He had gone from being the high king to a regular school boy again. Gone from being treated with respect and honor to being treated like he was a kid again. He had ranted to his siblings about that. He had wished that they would left him alone. He ran a hand over his short, blonde hair. His blue eyes glittered as he was lost in his thoughts. Oh bother this, Peter thought to himself as he got up from his chair. He walked out of the study closing the door behind him. He wasn’t in the mood to be dealing with things that concerned the next council meeting. He needed a distraction. Probably not a very wise thing to do with the meeting being only hours away but he figured that he would make up for the lost time. He was sure of that. Peter raised his head to glanced at the window. The sun was shining high in the sky. It was in the mid-morning hours. He was dressed in a dark blue tunic and matching trousers. The colors did complimented his eyes. The king shook his head as he continued to stroll down the hallways, making his way over to the orchard.
He needed some time outside, not to mention time out in the sun. He figured that he had deserved it. And besides when was the last time that he was out? Peter shook his head at his thoughts, trying to get rid of their foolishness. After the initial shock had worn off that he was dead, Peter had resumed his role as the High King. Aslan had warned him that he would share the king status with the other kings of Narnia. He had absolutely no problem with this. He trusted Aslan and his word after all. A small smile spread across his lips as he entered the orchard and took a deep breath. He felt so much better being here. Peter raised his head to stare up at one of the trees and glanced around, checking to make sure that no one was around before sitting down on one of the benches.

There was another who was having a hard time wrapping her head around being dead, and that was the youngest of the Pevensie children. Lucy had been one of the seven friends of Narnia but also one of the queens of old as well. Back when she ruled with her siblings in the other Narnia, or rather the shadow lands as it was called now. Why did everything have to become so complicated. Upon arriving here she had been in shock, waking up in a strange field with the smell of flowers and fresh air. At first Lucy thought she had arrived in heaven since all she remembered was a wreck, the sound of metal grinding and screaming. Then silence. It had been then she realized she had died, Aslan had brought her and her two brothers to his country. And to her surprise she was greeted by Reepicheep who bowed in respect, saying they would once again meet someday. Not once did Lucy stop believing in Narnia nor Aslan, since the first time she set first in the false Narnia she had created a strong bond with the big lion. And that's pretty much it, they were brought to Aslan and told they had died in a train wreck. It saddened her to hear her mother didn't survive and they couldn't back. Yet she was happy to finally be in the great country which Aslan ruled. Cair Paravel was here, her friends were here. Her cousin and his friend, but Susan hadn't come with them.
Her eldest sister always thought of Narnia as nothing but a game, that's why she wasn't brought here with them. Though by some good pardon Aslan let Susan into his country, and was reunited with her siblings. After the inital shock wore off after a couple of days, Lucy had gone back to taking her duties as t he valiant queen of Cair Paravel. Yes she knew she had to share the title with other queens around in other kingdoms. What had thrilled her the most was to hear that her friend Tumnus was here, she had chatted with him a few time already. It had been so wonderful to see him after so long. Heading down the many corridors of the place she now called home forever, the sound of her swishing dress making noises as she rushed along. Her hair was down and flowing down her back with just a single braid in it, her dress was light red with gold trim and white. It was mid-morning and the halls of Cair Paravel was bustling with many creatures and servants of all kinds. Saying rushed hellos and giving smiles the youngest Pevensie hurried outside.
Hiking her dress up just abit, she stepped out a side door and out to the orchard a place she often liked to go to relax and have some peace and quiet. One more thing she forgot to do before she left her chambers, was to put on some shoes. Ah who needed them, she followed no rules here besides she was one of the queens. And the grass in the orchard felt so nice between her toes. As she ventured towards one of the fruit trees, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure sitting on one of the benches. "Peter!" Of course she instantly went over to him, her dress swishing over the grass as she walked until her feet met the concrete of one of the walkways and where the bench was sitting. "Mind if I join you...?" Lucy took a seat beside him and took in the fresh air. It was so nice and peaceful here. There were no wars to fight, and all their friends were here. It's like they had died and been reborn into Narnia, for the longest time this place had been waiting for them to arrive.
How could she forget that day after dark island vanished, Peter wasn't there but it was so pretty. They had taken a rowboat from the Dawn Treader and come to the edge of the world where there was a great wall of water, the water itself was sweet. At that time they never saw it, but over that wall of water was Aslan's country. And here they were ruling forever in Cair Paravel. " I'm so happy to be here, but i'm also going to miss mother. You think she's in heaven looking down at us?" She had never gone to Narnia with them so of course it would make sense that she would go to heaven. Looking over to one of the trees she smiled and stood up, walking over and grabbing a apple off the branch. Smelling the sweet fruit as if it was forbidden or would turn to dust in her hand. Taking a bite she let the sweet juice enter her mouth and run down her throat, it was that delicious. Grabbing another one she walked back over to Peter and offered the one she just picked. "Here you go". What else could they do today. It was mid-morning and so many ideas were running through her mind, they could go for a walk or swim in the ocean. Unless Peter was too busy with kingly duties.

Peter closed his eyes, enjoying the light breeze that was passing by. Not to mention that he was enjoying the quiet as well. Probably one of the most relaxing days he had in between meetings. He still couldn’t believe that he was here. On some days he tried to convince himself that it was nothing but a simple dream. That he would wake up in the house he stayed with the professor. On other days it was just too real to be considered a dream. He sighed as he continued to stare into space. Not a good habit for the high king. He shook his head slightly, trying to get rid of his thoughts when his ears pricked forward, hearing the sound of his name being called. A smile started to spread across his lips, knowing that voice all too well. “Hey Lu,” he greeted with one of his warm smiles that he reserved just for her. “Shouldn’t you be inside bugging someone else?” he teased slightly before raising his hand and messing up her hair a little. It was clear to anyone that Lucy was Peter’s favorite sibling. The baby of the Pevensies and he was held responsible for her safety as well as her well-being.
It was just what he needed to do before the meeting. He smirked lightly as he nodded, knowing that Lucy would sit down beside him without an answer. “Sure go ahead,” he invited with another nod. “I know you are Lu. You love being in Narnia more than you loved being back home in-” Peter stopped himself with a small frown. He was about to say back home in England when a small voice in the back of his mind asked silently, and yet didn’t you once consider Narnia your home as well? The high king shook his head again at himself before hearing her question. It was all he could do not to start tearing up at that thought. Peter took a deep breath. "Wherever she is I’m sure she’s watching over us. It is a shame her and father couldn’t be here with us in Aslan’s Country.” His voice trailed off as he stared straight ahead starting to become lost in his thoughts. “It would have made our adventures more meaningful if Aslan did allow them in here,” He ran a hand through his hair as he tore his gaze away and glanced down at the little queen.
She was not so little anymore, he thought to himself. Lucy is starting to grow up. Soon she would be of age to marry. Peter made a face at that thought. If Lucy were to meet with someone he would have to make sure that the man fit the requirements he had in mind for her. He was not about to let no one hurt his little sister. The high king smirked as he took the apple from he and bit into it. “I have two hours before I’m supposed to be in a meeting. Feel like doing anything until then?” he inquired. “I need to distract myself.” That was probably one of the things that he didn’t want to reveal to Lucy. It couldn’t hurt he supposed. “I have my notes that I need. Not that they would be of any use,” Peter shrugged. “Although if the meeting does break into an argument like it always does you can bet that I will be walking out of the door to avoid being caught into anything,” He managed a rather crooked smile at her. “You should be lucky you do not have any meetings to do.” He teased a bit. "Now, we could take a walk down by the beach if you want,"

May it be when darkness falls Your heart will be true You walk a lonely road Oh! How far you are from home Being in Narnia again, okay the real Narnia felt so wonderful. And it just wasn't any Narnia either, it was Aslan's country. The last time she had seen the great lion was when she left with Edmund and Eustace, he had said to her she would need to learn his name in their world. That was in the past now and this was her true home. Lucy decided to head out to the orchard for some fresh air wearing one of the dresses she loved to wear on a lazy day. Actually almost everyday was a lazy day to her, since it was mostly Peter and Edmund who dealt with the meetings and such. Stepping out a side door and outside to the orchard the young queen took in the warm air and stretched her hands to the sky. She then made her way across the grass with her bare feet, smiling as she saw her brother sitting nearby. Shouting out his name, the young queen made her way over. Mid-morning and already seeing one of her siblings, Edmund was probably still sleeping or elsewhere in Cair Paravel. "Nice to see you out here".
Lucy saw the smile on her brother's face, the one reserved for her. Out of her three siblings she always felt more closer to Peter, then to Edmund and Susan. She quickly moved away as Peter messed her hair up, trying to straighten it. "Well I couldn't find anyone else to bug, then I saw you out here". He always seemed to tease her and she never got angry or bothered by it. Asking if she could sit down next to him, of course not waiting for him to say yes she sat on the bench and sighed lightly. Tucking some hair behind her ear she nodded, Peter was right. She did love being in Narnia more then being back in England. Everytime they had to leave to go back she wanted to hesitate and just stay. Lucy then brought up their mother, wondering if she was looking down at them from above. Lucy even missed their father even though they barely saw him. "I wish they could have been here with us, they would have loved it here".
Would it have made their adventures more meaningful if their parents had come here, guess she would never know the answer to that. Aslan did say his country was made for noble hearts, but that only meant for those who had lived in the fake Narnia right. And her parents never visited Narnia with them so they wouldn't come here. Standing up she walked over to the trees which held some fruit of them, taking an apple and then another taking a bite of hers and almost melting from the flavor. It was sweet and very fresh, heading back over to Peter she held out the apple to him. As he mentioned that he had a meeting in a couple of hours and needed a distraction, Lucy tryed to think of something they could do to pass the time. They could just lounge outside in the orchard and talk about things or go inside and have a proper breakfast. Nah those things sounded a little boring, and besides they were already out here in the orchard.
Taking another bite of the apple she listened to him explain if there was an argument that would break out he would walk out of the room, how typical. He then mentioned she was lucky that she didn't have to worry about meetings and such. "Yes well I find meetings rather boring, which is why I prefer to spend my days reading a book or chatting with friends". Even going to visit Aslan since she had the strongest bond with that lion. Finishing the apple she smiled and nodded. "A walk down by the beach sounds like a great idea, race you". Lucy tagged him and ran out of the orchard heading back inside, going towards the path that would lead down to the beach.

During their time in England, after Aslan had told him and Susan that they were not going to return to Narnia, Peter had often resisted the urge to walk to the old wardrobe and peak inside just to see what would happen. He then remembered the words that the professor had told them after he had discovered them in the old room. When Lucy had asked if they would ever go back to Narnia. He had replied with a yes and even then they wouldn’t go to Narnia through the wardrobe. There was other ways for the Pevensie children to enter Narnia, as Peter had found out. He remembered the second time they had come back. They were pulled in by magic, through the old horn that was once in Susan’s possession. He had met Caspian, who had the time of their meeting was nothing but a prince who had escaped from his evil uncle. Peter was used to being the king. He was used to giving orders and now he had to share that with the person he had once considered to be Narnia’s downfall. But Peter had learned a lot during that time. He knew he would encounter Caspian again. It was just a matter of time but he was sure that he would encounter the Telmarine again. Peter continued to stare at the area in front of them, his blue eyes held a thoughtful look to them.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of Lucy’s voice saying that it was nice to see him out here. Peter laughed. “Well I got tired of being in the study and decided to wonder out. My mind isn’t necessarily on the upcoming meeting,” he told her truthfully. Peter was a little surprised that he wasn’t traumatized by the train incident. He was actually functioning very well and he wondered if Aslan had something to do with it. The wreck was enough to cause startling damage to a poor soul that was on board. He was just thankful that they weren’t ghosts, wondering around the tracks and not being able to find their way. Peter took a deep breath as he bit into the apple, grateful for something to keep his mind occupied even if it was something small as eating. The eldest of the Pevensies listened to what she was saying. He found it difficult to comment on her statement without counting to ten. He was frightened that he might start to cry again. It was something that Peter hadn’t done in a while, not since the day of the battle in which Jadis was murdered by Aslan. When she had stabbed Edmund, Peter thought that he was going to lose his brother. His mind went frantic with worry about him and about how he was going to explain the loss of their second son to his mother, and eventually their father when he came home from the war.
Peter shook his head to clear his thoughts. “They would love it here,” he repeated absentmindly. “Mother would love to wear dresses and more than likely father would sit in the meetings with Edmund and me. Wondering how good of kings we are.” His voice trailed off as he started to become lost in his thoughts again. Would things have gone the same if their parents had somehow ended in Narnia with them during their adventures? They would probably have to believe in such a place as Narnia. Not to mention the fact that they would have recovered from such a shock first. The king chuckled. “Meetings are indeed rather boring but Edmund and I have to get them done,” he reached out and tweaked the end of her nose lightly. He grinned. “The beach sounds good to me. Hey!” Peter shouted playfully as he got up from the bench and started to run after her. “Little sisters shouldn’t get a heads’ start!” He laughed as he shook his head. The next two hours would run by fast with Lucy he was sure of it.

May it be when darkness falls Your heart will be true You walk a lonely road Oh! How far you are from home Lucy could remember when she first found the passage through the wardrobe in the professor's house, it was a game of hide and seek. Edmund had taken her hiding spot behind the curtain, good thing he did otherwise she wouldn't have discovered Narnia. Her adventures in that other Narnia had been quite interesting and full of adventure, she never really fought against the armies or anything. She was more the healer then a fighter. Except that one time in Narrowhaven when she had to fight against those slave traders, it still made her shudder at the thought she and Eustace had almost been sold off to strangers. When they got back to Cambridge, she and Eustace decided to leave that part out to Susan and Peter. And what about here, was there those type of people here in Aslan's country. The great lion would have to balance his country out wouldn't he, well since she has been here things have been peaceful. As soon as she spoke to Peter, it was almost like she has snapped him out of some deep thought.
"Well I think anyone would be bored just sitting in a study, just where exactly is your mind". Lucy had sat down for a few minutes before standing again to get two apples, and handed one to Peter. Her thoughts began to drift to the train wreck they had been in, had Aslan been involved with that somehow. That happened after the final battle for the fake Narnia, that Ape and stuff. It was a little fuzzy to her but why have their lives shortened so quickly. When she mentioned that she wished their mother and father could be with them here she quickly bit her tongue abit. It was still upsetting they would never see their parents again, and their first time in the other Narnia she had a close encounter with those wolves. Then the river, and of course they almost lost Edmund in that battle with Jadis. Her first night here she had cryed herself to sleep, happy when she arrived and was greeted by Aslan. But when the hard truth hit them she had been upset. Hearing Peter speak up Lucy just nodded her head lightly. She would have loved to show her mother all the dresses she had as a young queen in this place, and yes their father would sit in on the meetings seeing how well his sons are as kings.
But they never would have believed in this place, call it nothing but childish nonsense. And a figment of their imagination. Eating her apple in silence before feeling her nose tweaked and grins standing up. "Hey I was simply making a point you know". Meetings were boring, nothing but boring things were discussed. And just what did they have to talk about anyways, it's not like there were any attacks or anything. So what would they discuss, trade routes and such. When he asked what she wanted to do she suggested they go down to the beach, and with a quick tag and saying she would race him the young queen was off out of the orchard. Still eating her apple and laughing she ran through the halls of Cair Paravel till she reached another exit, heading down the trail of stairs that led down to the beach. "I think it's fair". She simply yelled back to her brother. These couple of hours were going to go by so quickly.

The high king quirked an eyebrow at her as he took the other apple. “Just drifting about other things,” he said as a matter of fact. “About the train wreck. Other things like that,” What he didn’t exactly tell her was on the first week of their stay, after they had died. Peter had thrown a feast in celebration. Not because they had died, because the four rulers, the kings and queens of old were back. The women of the court had eyed the king as he made his rounds around the ball room. Making sure that everything was going alright and talking to his knights. It was annoying for Peter really. During the Golden Age of Narnia, their first couple of years as rulers, the women were falling heads over heels for him. Little did he know that it was just for the show. The women were mainly after for his looks and the attention they would get dating the high king. It was rather crazy if he would have to be honest. They hid their true intension though. It was something that Peter would have to keep Lucy from ever experiencing. He knew she was growing up and was no longer the baby. But that didn’t stop him from being protective of her whenever a man or a boy crossed her life. There was a small smile crossing his lips as he glanced down at his sister.
She would never know what he was thinking and he considered that to be a very good thing. Turning his thoughts back to their father, Peter privately thought that it was best of he had stayed away. He was perfectly capable of running a kingdom on his own with his brother and sisters. The last thing he needed was for someone to come in and tell him how to run it. He shook his head at the thought as he bit down on the apple. “Father would love to sit in the meetings with us. I think it would remind him of…his time in the military,” his voice trailed off as he remembered World War 2. His father had enlisted and was deployed, leaving their mother alone with the kids. She needed some help looking after and Peter had to be the mature one. The one that the other four would look up to and listen. He had to leave his childhood behind and was envious of his younger siblings. Seeing them play without a care in the world. Peter never voiced those thoughts to anyone. It was something that he always managed to keep hidden. Although somehow Susan saw through him. Born a year younger than he was Susan also had to grow up quickly. At the thought of his eldest sister, Peter glanced back down at Lucy. “Have you seen Susan around?” he inquired.
He had not seen her since the day she had arrived. He had been greatly surprised. Peter chuckled at Lucy. “And what makes you think your points have to be right?” he teased her. “For all you know you could be wrong.” Not that he would admit it fondly. “And I won’t be one bit surprised if they wanted you to sit in the meetings since you’re growing up and everything else,” there was a half serious tone to his voice. Something that had made Peter went into his earlier thoughts before shaking his head. Grumbling light hearted the king quickly dashed through after his sister, passing some of the nobles, who hid a smile at the two Pevensie children. They did not stop them and he considered that a good thing. “Well I think it’s not,” Peter called back to her. His bright blue eyes were twinkling all in good humor as he continued to chase after her. It was amazing how Peter remembered the turns and quick passages of the Cair after a long time of being away. Narnia was like a second home to the Pevensies. Their heaven away from the boring going-ons in England. It was hard for him to adjust to living like a commoner again. Even harder when people were treating him like he was a kid. When he was not always one. He was capable of taking care of himself as well as his siblings. He had done that for a while now. Shaking his head Peter tried to clear his thoughts away.

May it be when darkness falls Your heart will be true You walk a lonely road Oh! How far you are from home Drifting about is where his mind was huh, come on this was Peter her brother. She knew him better then that. His mind was thinking of back home in England and what they had left behind after dying in that train wreck, that they were so fortunate to come here to Aslan's country and yet their mother perished in the train wreck. What would father say to knowing all his children are dead, and that his wife is no longer alive. Lucy pushed all thoughts of those into the back of her mind, she had to stop thinking about it and concentrate on now. This was their life here and now in the wonderful place that Aslan called his country, they no longer had to worry about death or going back to England. The young high queen remembered after just a week of being here, Peter had thrown a celebration in honor of them returning to Cair Paravel. Surrounded by friends and new faces, even Aslan had joined in on the celebration welcoming them back properly. It had been so much fun, with food and dancing that lasted well on into the night.
Lucy remembered the women, both in their Golden Age and here in this Cair Paravel. The ones in the old Narnia would fall head over heels for Peter and Edmund, wanting to be with or even just near the high kings. Lucy knew better though, she knew it was all just a show they put on. Strutting around in their dresses and trying to get the attention of the kings, how disgusting she had thought. Men were not stags to be hunted down for prizes. But since they were settled in Cair Paravel here would Peter consider finding a bride. Slowly she stood up and munched on the apple she had taken from the orchard tree. Another thing she found odd upon arriving here is that Susan had not been with them, Aslan had told her it was because Susan didn't believe in Narnia like she did. Thought it had all been a game or something that was made up, but Lucy knew it had been real. So when Peter asked if she had seen their sister, the young queen simply shook her head. "No I haven't, do you think she's somewhere else in Narnia?". That could be, their sister could be in a different part of Narnia. Aslan perhaps had a change of heart and let her come after all, Lucy had yet to see any sign of Susan.
Finishing her apple she frowned to her brother, sitting in those meetings oh how boring. There were no wars to fight, and nothing bad was happening. So what would they even talk about. Trade routes and goods being delivered no doubt, she just had that feeling in her gut. And from the semi-serious tone in her brother's voice, she knew that there would be times she would need to attend these meetings. Unless somehow she avoided them, either saying she was sick with something, or maybe hiding out here in the orchard or in the library. Giving a sly grin telling him they should spend time down at the beach, Lucy tagged her brother and took off inside Cair Paravel. Knowing every hall and every passage like she was born in the castle it's self. Giggling she headed out a certain way which led down a path to the beach. "It's fair to me". Hiking her dress up abit she laughed and made her way down the path.
Oh how she hated wearing dresses on this thing, but she wasn't about to let Peter catch her. Before she exited out a door at the far end of a hall, she threw the apple core to a passing servant who just smiled and shook their head. Lucy only glanced behind her once seeing Peter was right on her tail and tryed to pick up her pace abit as she faced foreward once more. Yes indeed these couple of hours were going to fly by like they were nothing.
